“Children and caregivers know what helps them feel welcome in a place to play—and what keeps them away,” said Stephanie David, Director of Early Childhood Policy at Common Ground Health and Director of Healthi Kids. “Their experiences should shape these spaces from the beginning. We’re excited to help bring those voices into the conversation so that inclusive play reflects what all Rochester families actually need.”

“Many families were experiencing an Infant-Toddler Play Day for the first time, and they were eager to learn more,” said Healthi Kids Project Coordinator Anna Laurenza, who led the event. “They wanted to know more about how playful, responsive interactions support children’s mental health. Many took home resources so they could continue learning.”

National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 through October 15 every year. This month’s Healthi Kids Culture Corner features a picture book, an animated series, and bilingual nursery rhymes that families can enjoy together.

With the annual Carifest, August is a great time for families in Rochester to explore Caribbean culture through stories, shows, local celebrations, and new foods. Hence, this month's Culture Corner!
