Infant-Toddler Play Day brings families together in Greece

Colorful toys, hands on activities, and plenty of time interacting with each other gave young children and their caregivers a chance to play, connect, and learn together during an Infant-Toddler Play Day held September 26, 2026 at the Greece Community Center.

About 15 families attended, including moms, dads, grandparents, foster parents, and other caregivers. Children explored a variety of toys and activities while caregivers learned how everyday moments of play can strengthen relationships and support infant and early childhood mental health.

“Many families were experiencing an Infant-Toddler Play Day for the first time, and they were eager to learn more,” said Healthi Kids Project Coordinator Anna Laurenza, who led the event. “They wanted to know more about how playful, responsive interactions support children’s mental health. Many took home resources so they could continue learning.”

Infant-Toddler Play Days give caregivers an opportunity to follow their child’s lead, talk and laugh together, and join in play. These simple, back-and-forth interactions help young children feel safe, loved, and connected, building the foundation for healthy development and lifelong mental well-being.

The play days also bring the message of Healthi Kids’ Love from the Start campaign directly to families. The campaign helps caregivers understand the important role they play in nurturing children’s mental health from their earliest days.

The event was held in partnership with the Greece Department of Parks and Recreation. Ella Isacc, a former Healthi Kids intern who now develops programming for young children and families with the department, helped bring the play day to Greece.

Families were eager to learn when they could attend another play day. Healthi Kids plans to hold additional Infant-Toddler Play Days in Greece on December 5, 2026. Additional Play Days are in the works for other locations throughout the region.
