As the Parent Engagement Specialist for Healthi Kids, Erick provides technical assistance and support to schools and neighborhoods to strengthen and improve family engagement efforts. He also works directly with parents and youth to train them on advocacy and connect them to opportunities to impact policy, systems, and environmental change.
Active in the community, Erick is a member of United Parent Leaders Network Policy Team, Parent Engagement Collaborative Action Network of ROC the Future, the Rochester City School District Special Education and Parent Advisory Council, and the Horizons at Harley School Parent Advisory Council. He also serves as co-chair for Rochester Parent Leadership Training Institute Civic Design Team.
Prior to coming to Common Ground Health Erick was a Youth Services Assistant at the Phillis Wheatley Branch Library in Rochester's Southwest and the Parent Liaison at James P.B. Duffy School #12, where he now volunteers and runs a program to help develop leaders at the school through mentoring. Erick is currently completing his Bachelor of Science in Political Science at the University of Buffalo.
Erick’s hobbies include: thrifting, baseball, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.
