Healthi Kids is proud to partner with the Rochester City School District’s Department of Health, Physical Education and Athletics to support school environments where students can eat well, move more, and thrive. Through efforts like the Healthi Connections Professional Development Series—hosted in collaboration with RCSD and focused on nutrition, play, positive discipline, and whole-child wellness—educators are building practical skills they can bring back to classrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and school communities. They have also supported educators to attend the annual Playful Learning Summit to further explore how play and joyful learning can transform education.
“Partnering with RCSD allows us to connect wellness policy with real, practical strategies that educators can use with students every day. Together, we’re helping build school communities where health, movement, nutrition come together with joy and are part of the culture,” says Hailey Cox, Healthy Schools Project Coordinator
Most recently, Healthi Kids joined RCSD school leaders for a presentation focused on strengthening the district’s Wellness Policy and turning policy into everyday practices that support student health.
“When school staff have space to learn together, reflect, and talk honestly about what students are experiencing, we can identify small shifts that make a real difference in the school day. Our partnership with RCSD helps bring whole-child health into everyday practice," says Mike Bulger, Director of Whole Child Health, Common Ground Health.
We’re grateful for RCSD’s continued partnership and shared commitment to creating healthier, more supportive school communities for Rochester students.
