As we start the new year, Healthi Kids remains committed to ensuring kids have access to healthy food and nutritious meals. In 2025, we were proud to support six R-Centers—Adams Street, Avenue D, Edgerton, Jackson, and Ryan—in bringing the Healthy Indoor Bill of Rights to life.
With funding and support, these centers were able to purchase restaurant-grade cooking equipment, making it easier to prepare homemade, wholesome meals for kids—pictured above are two participants in the Jackson Junior Chefs program! This builds on previous work with the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council: Youth Voice, One Vision, to secure a City Council resolution establishing a Healthy Indoor Bill of Rights. Our goal continues to be to create a culture of health and well-being in R-Centers through better nutrition, physical activity, social-emotional support, and safe spaces for kids.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re working with R-Centers to design community-led initiatives around nutrition that are based on recent food service assessments. These, and efforts to help educate the community about the Healthy Indoor Bill of Rights are in the early stages of planning.
Stay tuned for updates!
